- 1Day 1: Arrive in Colombo, Sri Lanka
Welcome to Sri Lanka, the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”! Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, your chauffeur-guide will warmly greet you and transfer you to Negombo, a charming coastal town located just 20 minutes from the airport.
After hotel check-in, enjoy free time to relax or take a peaceful walk along Negombo’s beautiful beach while watching the sunset over Sri Lanka’s west coast.
Known for its sandy beaches, fishing culture, and convenient location near Colombo Airport, Negombo is a popular gateway destination for travelers beginning or ending their Sri Lanka journey.

After breakfast, depart from Negombo and travel toward Sigiriya with a stop at the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (approximately 4.5 hours total driving time).
At Pinnawala, discover one of Sri Lanka’s most popular wildlife attractions, home to the world’s largest herd of captive elephants. Watch rescued elephants roam freely and enjoy the memorable sight of them bathing in the nearby river.

Continue to the legendary Sigiriya Lion Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Rising nearly 200 meters above the surrounding jungle, this ancient rock fortress was once the royal palace of King Kasyapa.

Climb through ancient stairways, water gardens, frescoes, and the famous Mirror Wall before reaching the summit, where breathtaking panoramic views and palace ruins await.
Travel Tips:
1. Hike and Timing: The hike to Sigiriya Rock Fortress typically takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on your physical fitness level and the crowd size on the day of your visit.
2. Wear Comfortable Clothing. Opt for light, comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes as the climb involves steep staircases and uneven surfaces.
3. Bring Water and Essentials: Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. Also, remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. It can get very hot, especially during the climb.
4. Hire a site Guide: Consider hiring a guide at the entrance if you’re interested in learning more about the history and significance of Sigiriya. Guides can provide insights that enrich your experience.After the Sigiriya excursion, transfer to Dambulla for your overnight stay.

After breakfast at your hotel, visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, famous for its impressive cave temples, ancient Buddhist murals, and statues dating back to the 1st century BCE. Explore the five main caves, each featuring unique paintings and Buddha statues in different Mudras that represent important Buddhist teachings and philosophies. From the temple complex, you can also enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

After the visit, continue your journey to Kandy (approximately 2.5 hours). Along the way, stop at a traditional spice garden where you can discover Sri Lanka’s world-famous spices such as cinnamon, pepper, ginger, cardamom, and vanilla. Learn how these spices are cultivated and used not only in Sri Lankan cuisine but also in traditional herbal remedies.
Upon arrival in Kandy, check in to your hotel and relax before attending a traditional Kandyan cultural dance performance in the evening. Accompanied by energetic drumming, the show features famous Sri Lankan performances including the cobra dance, mask dance, and fire dance. Watch performers dressed in elaborate traditional costumes demonstrate incredible fire-walking and cultural rituals in one of Sri Lanka’s most vibrant cultural experiences.

After breakfast, depart from Kandy and enjoy a scenic drive to Nuwara Eliya (approximately 2.5–3 hours), passing beautiful waterfalls, lush tea plantations, and misty mountain landscapes along the way. Stop at the picturesque Ramboda Falls to admire the cascading waterfall and take memorable photos.
As you ascend into Sri Lanka’s hill country, experience the refreshing cool climate of Nuwara Eliya, located about 6,200 feet above sea level and widely known as the “Tea Capital” of Sri Lanka.

Along the route, visit a traditional tea plantation and tea factory where world-famous Ceylon Tea is produced. Walk through the emerald-green tea fields, observe local tea pickers harvesting fresh tea leaves, and learn about the tea-making process from fermentation and drying to cutting and grading. Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of authentic Ceylon tea before continuing to Nuwara Eliya.
Often called “Little England,” Nuwara Eliya is famous for its colonial-era architecture, Tudor-style buildings, charming gardens, and peaceful atmosphere that reflect its British colonial heritage.

Later, relax at Gregory Lake, a scenic lakeside retreat surrounded by rolling hills and cool mountain air, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing.

Accommodation: Nuwara Eliya - 6Day 6: Nuwara Eliya – Ella – Yala (Horton Plains Hike & Scenic Train Journey)
After an early breakfast, begin your adventure with a hiking excursion to Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands. Situated over 2,000 meters above sea level, the park features misty grasslands, cloud forests, waterfalls, rocky cliffs, and diverse wildlife. Horton Plains is the only national park in Sri Lanka where visitors can hike independently through its scenic trails.
During the trek, enjoy breathtaking mountain landscapes and keep an eye out for wildlife such as sambar deer, wild boars, rare birds, and even leopards if you are lucky. The famous circular trail to World’s End is approximately 9 km and usually takes around 3–4 hours to complete. Due to the narrow mountain roads, transportation to the park will be arranged by jeep or van. An early departure around 6:00–6:30 AM is recommended for the best weather and clearest views. Comfortable hiking shoes and layered clothing are highly recommended.
After the hike, transfer to Nanu Oya Railway Station to board the scenic train to Ella. Considered one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys, the route passes through rolling tea plantations, misty valleys, waterfalls, tunnels, and picturesque hill country villages.

Tips for Train:
1. Train Tickets are hot, especially in the high season. It is advisable to book one month before your traveling date.
2. Keep in mind that tickets are subject to availability, and you may not be able to choose specific seats.
3. In the event of train delays or cancellations, be aware that the ticket fee is non-refundable.
4. The journey from Nanu Oya to Ella typically takes between 3 to 4 hours, depending on the specific train service and any delays along the route.
5. Sri Lankan trains are not known for their strict schedules. Delays are common, so be prepared to relax and enjoy the ride! The journey itself is part of the experience.Upon arrival at Ella Railway Station, meet your chauffeur-guide and visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, a stunning colonial-era railway bridge built entirely from bricks and stone without steel support. Surrounded by lush jungle and tea plantations, it is one of Sri Lanka’s most photographed landmarks.
After exploring Ella, continue your drive to Tissamaharama, the gateway town to Yala National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Start your day early with an exciting Jeep safari in Yala National Park, the second-largest and one of the most famous national parks in Sri Lanka. Known for having one of the world’s highest leopard densities, Yala offers an unforgettable wildlife safari experience.
The safari usually begins around 6:30 AM, the best time to spot wildlife while animals are most active. Spend approximately 2.5 to 3 hours exploring the park in a private safari jeep and keep your camera ready for sightings of Sri Lankan leopards, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, jackals, spotted deer, buffaloes, monkeys, and a wide variety of bird species.

Yala National Park is divided into five safari zones, with Block 1 near the Palatupana entrance being the most popular due to its high concentration of leopards. With over 200 bird species, the park is also a paradise for birdwatchers, home to peacocks, hornbills, and migratory birds.
Morning safaris offer cooler weather and active wildlife, while afternoon safaris provide stunning golden light for photography. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but experienced safari guides will use their expertise to maximize your chances of memorable encounters. Bringing binoculars and a zoom camera lens is highly recommended.
After the safari, continue your journey toward Bentota, famous for its golden beaches and crystal-clear waters. Along the coastal route, you may stop to see Sri Lanka’s iconic stilt fishermen balancing on slender wooden poles above the sea, a traditional fishing method unique to the island’s southern coast.
Upon arrival in Bentota, check in to your beach resort and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic boat safari on the tranquil Madu Ganga, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful wetland ecosystems. Cruise through winding mangrove forests and discover the rich biodiversity of the river, where you may spot monkeys swinging through the trees, colorful birds, water monitors, and crocodiles resting along the riverbanks.

The river is dotted with small islands, some home to local fishing communities and others featuring traditional cinnamon plantations. During the safari, you may visit one of the islands to learn about the local lifestyle and Sri Lanka’s famous cinnamon production.
After the river safari, return to Bentota and spend the rest of the day relaxing on Bentota Beach. Enjoy the tropical atmosphere, unwind beneath the palm trees, or simply soak up the sunshine by the ocean.

After breakfast, depart from Galle and enjoy a scenic coastal drive to Bentota, one of Sri Lanka’s most popular beach destinations. The journey takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and offers beautiful views of the Indian Ocean coastline.
Upon arrival, spend the rest of the day relaxing at Bentota Beach, famous for its wide golden sands, clear blue waters, and tropical atmosphere. You can simply unwind by the beach or enjoy optional water sports activities such as jet skiing, windsurfing, and banana boat rides at your own expense.

Please note that the vehicle and driver will not be at your disposal during your beach stay.

After breakfast, transfer from Bentota to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic conditions.
Depending on your flight schedule, you may have free time in the morning to enjoy a final walk along Bentota Beach or relax at your hotel before heading to the airport. It is recommended to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your international flight for check-in and immigration procedures.
For a more scenic journey back to Colombo, you may also consider the optional coastal train ride, famous for its spectacular Indian Ocean views along Sri Lanka’s southern coastline. This experience is subject to train schedules and ticket availability.
